The Old Herbalist – Grandma Dora’s Story

Grandma Dora is a real woman, now in her eighties, who was born and raised in a small mountain village surrounded by forests, meadows, and wild herbs. In this region, herbal knowledge was not something special — it was simply a part of everyday life.

As a child, she learned the craft from her father and grandfather. They would walk through the hills together, collecting wild plants, drying them, and turning them into teas, remedies, and traditional preparations. Nearly every family in the area knew the value of herbs.

Although she later spent more than three decades working as a kindergarten teacher in the city, she never left her roots behind. Whenever she could, she returned to the village, continuing the herbal traditions she had learned as a child.

After her retirement, Grandma Dora returned to live permanently in the village where she was born. Surrounded by nature and her small herb garden, she continued the way of life she had known since childhood.

The aromas, the flavors, and the quality of the herbs from her land inspired our family to create The Old Herbalist — a small family business built on knowledge passed down through generations.

Today, our team consists of three family members, all descendants of Grandma Dora. She remains at the heart of everything we do. She shares her knowledge, guides our selection, and personally checks many of the herbs we prepare.

Some are still gathered by her own hands. Others come from trusted local collectors and small farms in regions rich in wild plants. But all of them follow the same principle she has lived by her entire life — respect for nature and careful selection.

Every herb we offer carries the wisdom of generations.
